Meet Our Veterinarians and Support Staff
We’re proud to call Indianapolis home, where we welcome pets and people from Nora and many other areas to our practice. Together, our veterinarians have nearly 50 years of experience in the field and work closely with our small but incredibly skilled and compassionate team of technicians and assistants. At Monon Animal Hospital, we’re all passionate about helping people by caring for their pets. You can be sure we will work to provide your four-legged family members with the exceptional treatment they deserve.
Veterinarians
Sara Rueter, DVM
In 1995, Dr. Rueter graduated from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Indianapolis area for over 25 years and worked in Broad Ripple for close to five years. Her areas of special interest include soft tissue surgery and internal medicine cases.
Dr. Rueter’s philosophy of practicing veterinary medicine is to always be mindful that every pet is a loved member of a family, and she considers herself to be the other “family doctor.” She enjoys working with clients to develop the best possible healthcare plans for their pets.
Dr. Rueter resides on the north side of Indianapolis with her husband, Greg, (who is also a veterinarian) their three children Sam, Megan, and Ben, two cats (George and Mama Sophie), and a Golden Retriever (Josie). Outside of work, Dr. Rueter enjoys running, reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Ken Simpson, DVM
Dr. Simpson graduated from Purdue's School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. He truly enjoys the unusual and challenging cases that are often seen in general practice and has a special interest in dermatology, dentistry, and pain management. He loves to educate and inform clients about how to improve the quality of their pets' lives. Dr. Simpson has practiced in the Broad Ripple/Nora area for over 25 years and enjoys the diversity found in this community.
Though a native of Florida, Dr. Simpson has a great affection for England, where his father grew up. He has on occasion returned to his ancestral roots by attending small animal continuing education courses overseas. Some of his favorite memories include a visit to the James Herriot Museum in Thirsk, England and seeing where his boyhood hero practiced.
Dr. Simpson, his wife Ellen, and their son Patrick share their home with a 3-legged Beagle named Lou (even though he hates that description!) and a 4-legged cat named Albert. When he isn't busy with his work or his family, he enjoys playing the guitar.
Debra K. Baird, DVM, PhD, Diplomate (ACVR)
Dr. Debra Baird is a board-certified specialist in diagnostic imaging and presently maintains a private consultation service in Indiana. From 2001 to 2012, Dr. Baird was a faculty member at the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been associated with the Monon Animal Hospital since 2009. We are very fortunate to have her expertise to help assist us with our most challenging cases.

Tiffany
Practice Manager
Tiffany has been the practice manager at Monon Animal Hospital since 2015 when she and her husband moved to Indianapolis. Her interest in working with animals spawned from an early age and has since led her to a 17-year career in the veterinary field. During that time, Tiffany has had the privilege of working alongside some amazing doctors and other staff, which adds to her love for the industry. She and her husband, Cory, have 2 four-legged babies. Ginger is a Beagle/Shepherd mix, and Lita (Fat Mama) is a Maine Coon mix. When not wrangling the pets, you can be sure to find Tiffany with her nose in a book.

She’s been volunteering at shelters and vet clinics since high school! Diana is passionate about shelter medicine and cats. She’s the proud momma of 4 cats: Mau, Ellie, Rover and Augustus. Meagan H.
Veterinary Technician
Meagan was born and raised in a small town in Indiana where she often had multiple animals at home. She graduated from Purdue University with a Human Services degree in 2017. Post graduation, she got a job in foster care where she realized her passion was working with animals while helping people. She moved to Southern California where she got her first vet job as a receptionist and loved it. After moving back home, she found her job at Monon and feels at home here. Meagan has a 4 year old Golden Retriever named Milo and her boyfriend, Taylor, has a year old Bernedoodle named Khai, and they are the best of friends. When she’s not loving on the goldens at work, you can usually find Meagan with Taylor and the dogs, spending time outside with the boys, going to Metazoa, crafting or spending time with friends and family.
Megan
Receptionist
Megan moved to Indiana as a child and is no stranger to pet ownership. Having grown up with a small pet menagerie in her home, Megan has cared for all types of animals ranging from dogs to small rodents to ducks and turtles. Despite her childhood in animal care, she graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a degree in Law and Public Policy. After finding out her true passion was caring for animals, she began a career in animal care before joining Monon Animal Hospital in June of 2020. Currently located in Fishers, she shares a home with her fiancé Derek, their son Travis, and their three dogs, Flynn, Brute, and Perdita. In her free time, Megan can be found working on her digital art, writing short stories, or spending time with her family and pets.
Jenna
Jenna started working in Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and joined the Monon family in March of 2021, although she has been surrounded by animals her whole life. What Jenna loves most about Veterinary medicine is client education, surgery/anesthesia, and radiology. Jenna grew up on a cattle/hog farm and showed pigs, horses, and chickens in 4-H. Jenna was always getting herself into trouble by bringing critters into the house when she was little. Jenna started working with animals as a career in 2009. Her love for all animals has trinkled down to her son, Kellen. Kellen one day wants to save animal lives just like his mom. When Jenna is not here at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with Kellen and her boyfriend Clinton. They enjoy camping, fishing, and watching football. You can catch Jenna cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and the Michigan Wolverines. GO BLUE/ SKOL!!!!! 😊

Since both kids are now in school she recently decided to get back out into the working field and joined our team. She enjoys helping all of the clients needs/wants be met in a timely manner. She is also enjoying building relationships with everyone and their fur babies. In her spare time Raven loves watching any and all documentaries. She is really intrigued with the Royal family and REAL true crime.
Jesyca
Jesyca started her journey in the veterinary field in 2020 at the Santa Fe animal shelter in New Mexico. Like many Hoosiers who leave the state, she found herself coming back to her native roots while continuing to learn and grow in an ever-changing field. She has a full house with two dogs Bella a chihuahua mix and Hank a boxer mix, two cats Hell Hammer and Peg Leg Pete. When she’s not at the clinic meeting new furry friends, you can find her and her little family at your local park or trying new restaurants.
Tamesha
Tamesha came to Monon Animal Hospital in February 2022. She was born and raised in Chicago “The Windy City”. In 2000 she was hired as a kennel attendant at the Anticruelty Society. Who knew it would result in her working there for 18 years and send her down a career path working with animals! She moved to Indiana in 2019 with her 3 boys and husband. She has a strong love for orange cats and loves anything to do with the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Her husband likes to tease her about the amount of Jack Skellington things she has.
